Space templates
A Space template is a reusable set of widgets for a deal flow’s sub-stages. When a deal’s Buyer Space is created, it starts from the default template for that deal’s flow. That way every room begins with the right documents, plan, and quote in the right places, and the AE only adjusts what’s specific to the deal.
The template controls widgets. The stages and sub-stages come from the deal flow itself.
Find your templates
Section titled “Find your templates”Go to Settings → Space templates. Each template shows:
- DEFAULT if it’s the default for its deal flow, and ACTIVE or ARCHIVED.
- The deal flow it belongs to, if its name differs from the flow’s name.
- FROM A LIVE ROOM if it was saved from a deal’s room.
- How many sub-stages are configured and how many widgets it has.
Click a template to preview it. Every deal flow gets a template when it’s created. You can also manage a flow’s templates in the Space templates step of the deal flow editor.
Create a template
Section titled “Create a template”- In Settings → Space templates, click New template.
- Choose the Deal Flow it’s for, give it a Name, and optionally a Description. AEs see the description when they pick a template on a deal.
- The new template starts empty and opens in the template editor.
Edit a template
Section titled “Edit a template”Open a template’s menu and choose Edit. The editor is the same room you use in configure mode, with a Configure this Space Template bar on top:
- Add, edit, reorder, and remove widgets exactly as you would in a deal’s room.
- Edit the template’s name and description inline in the bar.
- Set the template’s language, or keep Use your company’s default.
- Click Save to save, then Back to Settings.
The editor fills in sample data. Files, text, branding, and products are your real library. The buyer company, people, price, and dates are placeholders that a real room fills in from the deal. Some widgets, such as FAQ, the meeting-notes picker, Compare me to, and You may also like, depend on a real deal. In a template they explain that there’s nothing to choose yet.
Rooms stay connected to their template. Editing a template updates the rooms based on it, except where an AE has changed that part of a room for their deal. Changing which template is a flow’s default only affects rooms created after the change.
Other template actions
Section titled “Other template actions”From a template’s menu:
- Duplicate: copies it as another template for the same deal flow.
- Set as default: makes it the template new rooms on that flow start from.
- Archive: it can no longer be set as a flow’s default. Rooms already using it keep working. You can Restore it later from Show archived.
- Delete: only possible when no deal’s room and no deal flow uses it. Otherwise Shadows lists what’s using it. System templates can’t be deleted.
From inside a deal’s room
Section titled “From inside a deal’s room”Two template actions are available in a room’s configuration bar. Workspace owners and managers can use them.
Change template
Section titled “Change template”Replaces this room’s widgets with another template’s. Before you confirm, Shadows shows what will happen: how many custom widgets and edits are removed, and how many of the new template’s default widgets take their place. If the new template uses a different language, the room switches to it. Other rooms on the same deal flow aren’t affected.
Save as Template
Section titled “Save as Template”Turns a room that’s working well into a reusable template. Choose Save as new template with a name and description, or Update the room’s current template with what’s live in the room right now. The room language is saved with the template, and the room itself carries on unchanged.
This captures what’s live, so save any draft changes first.
