Configure a Deal Room

Configure mode is where you set up a deal’s Buyer Space. You edit the real room, so what you see is what your buyer will see.

  1. Open the deal from CRM → Deals.
  2. At the top of the deal, open the menu next to the Buyer Space button and choose Configure. The room opens in a new tab.

A dark Buyer Space configuration bar runs across the top of the room while you’re configuring.

You can also click Configure from the bar at the top of a room you’re previewing.

How saving works: Done stages, Save publishes

Section titled “How saving works: Done stages, Save publishes”

Every change you make in configure mode is kept as a draft until you press Save in the top bar. This includes adding, removing, and reordering widgets, editing their content, and changing the room language.

  • The widget editor panel’s Done button stages your changes. It does not save them to the room.
  • Save in the top bar writes all staged changes at once, and the buyer can see them.

The bar shows unsaved changes while you have a draft, and no changes yet when you don’t.

If you try to leave the page with unsaved changes, your browser warns you first. If the tab closes anyway, the room offers to restore your draft the next time you open configure mode (“Restored your unsaved changes from…”). You can keep the restored draft or click Discard.

If a teammate saved a change to the same widget while you were editing, Save tells you who changed it. Choose Save mine anyway or Use theirs.

  1. Go to the sub-stage you want, using the stages row and the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click Add a widget to this sub-stage.
  3. In the Add a widget picker, browse or search. The picker has two tiers:
    • Library: ready-made widgets that work out of the box: Quote, Name your price, Upload a competing offer, You may also like, and Compare me to.
    • Building blocks: general-purpose widgets grouped by what you want to do: Tell them something, Give them a document, Show them something, Ask them something, Work it together, Arrange the card.
  4. Hover over or tap a widget to read what it gives you, what it’s for, and how to set it up. Then click Add.

See the widget catalogue for details on each one.

Each widget has a small toolbar in configure mode:

  • Drag to reorder: drag the handle to move the widget within the sub-stage.
  • Edit: opens the widget editor panel.
  • Turn on / Turn off: hides the widget without deleting it.
  • Remove from this sub-stage: deletes the widget from this room.

The editor panel has up to four tabs:

TabWhat you set there
ContentThe widget’s title, subtitle, and description, plus its own content: files, text, video, questions, and so on.
BuyerWhat the buyer can do here, for example read only, upload files, or edit the text.
Involve teamWho on your team hears about it when the buyer acts: email, Slack channel, Slack DM, or Teams. The deal owner is always told.
AboutWhat the widget produces, what to use it for, and how to set it up.

Some widgets have settings that are Locked. For example, the Quote widget’s prices come from the deal’s Pricing tab, and you edit them there.

Every widget also has:

  • If there is no content: choose Hide the card, so the buyer never sees it, or Show a placeholder, a greyed-out card with your own text, such as “Your account team is preparing this.” Widgets the buyer writes into always show.
  • Seller note: a short note the buyer reads under the content.
  • Note to yourself: visible only to your team, never to the buyer.

When you’ve finished, click Done in the panel, then Save in the top bar. If you close the panel with changes you haven’t staged, it asks whether to Discard changes or Keep editing.

  • Banner: click Replace banner to upload an image (1600×400 or wider, JPG or PNG). Edit the title and subtitle directly on the banner.
  • Company & logo: click a logo to change the company name or upload a logo.
  • Welcome message: use Edit welcome message while previewing. You can edit the shared message, or choose a person under Viewing as to write one just for them.
  • Language: pick the room language from the configuration bar. See Room language and translations.
  • Change template and Save as Template: available to workspace owners and managers. See Space templates.

Editing a step the buyer already completed

Section titled “Editing a step the buyer already completed”

If you edit a sub-stage the buyer has already approved, a note shows who completed it and when. Your edit doesn’t undo their approval. To let them know something changed, click Notify the buyer, adjust the short message, and Send.

The configuration bar tells you how many widgets still need content (”⚠ 2 widgets require content before this room can go live”). It shows a check mark when everything is ready. A Before your buyer arrives panel, visible only to you, lists missing pieces such as an unpublished quote or empty steps.

When you’re ready, click Go live in the bar. Go live is unavailable while you have unsaved changes, so save first. See Go live and share.
